John Colley, managing director of Majestic Retail at Majestic Wine, has decided to step down to take a new role closer to his young children in the South of England, with his last day being 31 May. The company said that “building on the solid platform John has laid,” group chief executive Rowan Gormley will add the role of MD of Majestic Retail to his other responsibilities. The company said Colley, who played a key part in the first phase of the transformation of Majestic Retail, has built a talented and diverse Retail and Commercial board with many years of experience. This team will carry on running the day to day business, reporting directly to Gormley. No other management changes will need to be made and the Naked Wines and Lay & Wheeler businesses will continue to also report directly to Rowan.
